Systems integration

Most companies need a wide variety of programs, files, and procedures to keep their operations running. If not handled properly, this abundance of information can actually lead to decreased efficiency and competitiveness in the market. Often there are documents stored in an old computer or in poorly labeled compact discs, or there may be old paper files scattered among file cabinets, boxes, and desk drawers, and it's difficult to find just the one you're looking for. Maybe one office in the company generates reports almost identical to those needed by another office, but they do so with different software packages and without checking to see if one already has what the other needs. Sometimes a system is used to print out a report that is then handed to an administrative assistant only to be re-typed into a different system. Or perhaps the company wishes to receive data from a client or an external agency but has no easy way to integrate the new data into its existing systems in order to perform meaningful analyses, financial projections, etc. on it.

A company's efficiency depends to a great degree on how integrated its resources are; that is, how easily and uniformly its different offices and employees can access all the information they need to carry our their duties, and how easy it is to receive new information and integrate it with existing data. Duplicity of both information and effort should be minimized, data storage should be centralized, and access to these central databases should be granted to all necessary personnel and applications. In order to do this, Alternate North develops web page and web service interfaces that allow both humans and computers to have easy access to all the information your company needs to work with.
